SONG MEANINGS

Picture
"She will change the world" ~ A song dedicated to the ever inspirational Lisa Maree O'Hara, a model who had a zest for life, so positive, such strength, a dear friend who I worked with.  She was diagnosed with adenoid cystic cancer and passed away at age 24.  Check out the youtube video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6z-2Ez40OI

"Rocket Boots" ~ was written through the eyes of the animated character Astro Boy.  My love and big interest for space and the mystery of the universe created this song.  I wanted to combine the them together.  My all time favourite cartoon reminds me of being a kid, free and the quality years at home with family.

"September Sixteen" ~ is the bonus track on the"Rocket Boots EP".  I wrote this song about my Dad who passed away in 2004.   I chose to write it from a positive point of view and i dedicate this song to him.  September Sixteen was the day he passed, a day that changed my life and the way I look at it.

"One Match" ~ I saw a real- life story titled "I shouldn't be alive", on TV about a father and son who get lost in the snow and are stuck out there for days.  With no food or water they stumble across an old shed and happen to find a box of matches.  Inside they find one match to light a fire with to survive.  Their strength and courage inspired me to write a song about it, so i did.  I thought it was only appropriate to call it "One Match".

"Simmo's Song" ~ Everyone has a best friend and childhood friend and I decided to write this song for my best friend Simmo who tragically passed away in 2002.  He was only 18.

"Cover Me In Chocolate" ~  After hearing Rebecca Hetherington's Voice i had to write a song for her to sing on the album with me.  I decided to make it a country pop track, very much the 'cruising' song off the album '245'.

"Fire In The Dark" ~ This song was originally called Songs of the soul, but after recording it, I changed the title.  I woke up one morning after a night out at Airlie Beach in Queensland, its about stepping out of your comfort zone and building confidence.

"Karma" ~ I wrote this about people who torment other people and bully them, what goes around comes around.  One of my favourite written tracks.  It was written from personal experience, trusting a lot of people, being betrayed, bullied, attacked, basically all of the bad things that happened to me, went into this track.

"Inside Out" ~ This would have to be the song I have spent the longest time on.  I wrote it at age 15, and changed it so many times, then when recording it repeatedly got changed right until the very last week of finalizing the album.  Thankfully I am happy with the result.

"Dance In The Rain" ~ The very first song, single and video, I recorded for the album, Is about wanting the love from someone, nothing else matters, and learning to not waste time between fights or while the storm cloud is in place.

"Used' ~ When everyone around you is using you, no matter how hard you try or how much you trust, you will always be used  by someone.

"Shut Your Mouth" ~ After my first album was released, I received several messages and abuse from other musicians, haters, these were people I knew, ... it forced me to write this song so I'd like to thank those people for this song, because it turned out great.
If you've got nothing nice to say, shut your mouth.

"Music is my drug" ~ The chorus was the first part of this song that came to me, its a fun song, with questions and numbers combined and how music is the only thing in life that keeps me going.

"New Level" ~ When my film maker heard my new single 'Music is my drug', his reply was "it's a new level".... I decided to call the album New Level, because my music was at a new level, a step up, an improvement, I was also at a new level in my life, so that is where the album name came from.  When I started writing the song it ended up being about video games and going through different stages in a game.

"Million Reasons to break" ~ Probably the most honest song I have written about when I feel down.  Also a song for those who feel depressed when everything seems hard.  A song for those who feel like they are always making the effort for friendships but get nowhere.
